Description

Oliver Binks graduated with an honours degree in Ecology and completed his PhD at the School of GeoSciences of the University of Edinburgh in 2016, on the ecophysiology of tropical rainforests. He then spent five years at the Australian National University in Canberra, researching water movement through soil and plants and its transition into the atmosphere.

He is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the Centre for Ecological Research and Forestry Applications (CREAF) in Barcelona, thanks to the Postdoctoral Junior Leader fellowships programme of the ”la Caixa” Foundation. His research is concerned with understanding how forests function and how they interact with the climate. Specifically, he is studying the role of wate storage and hydraulic capacitance in the climate sensitivity of European tree species and forests.
