Description

Thanks to a postgraduate fellowship abroad from the ”la Caixa” Foundation, Albert Gimó is studying for an MVA (Mathematics, Vision and Learning) master’s degree at ENS Paris-Saclay. His main interest lies in the safe and effective integration of artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics in environments where these systems must interact with people.

With this goal in mind, Albert studies theoretical machine learning, AI system alignment and multi-agent interaction. He enjoys exploring these major challenges because of the transformative potential these technologies and their applications hold for the world. He is passionate about tackling these issues by combining his background in machine learning with a theoretical and rigorous approach rooted in his studies in mathematics.

He completed a double degree in Mathematics and Data Science at the Centre for Interdisciplinary Higher Education (CFIS), a centre of excellence at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC). During the final year of his studies, he served as a visiting research collaborator at the Safe Robotics Laboratory at Princeton University. During that time, he had the opportunity to immerse himself in the world of research, learn from his peers and his supervisor, Jaime Fisac, and complete his undergraduate thesis (TFG).
