This morning Isidro Fainé, president of “la Caixa” and the “la Caixa” Foundation, and Jaume Giró, executive officer of “la Caixa” and deputy general manager of the “la Caixa” Foundation, presided the ceremony to present the football player, Xavi Hernández, as the new ambassador for the programmes promoted by “la Caixa” Welfare Projects.

The alliance between “la Caixa” Welfare Projects and Xavi is due to both the institution and the football player identifying with the values of commitment, work and service, which has made them both top rate social references. In this respect, the appointment stems from the intentions of both parties to join forces and improve the quality of life for the most vulnerable people.

As a result of the agreement, Xavi will become an ambassador and provide his image, with no personal interest, for the initiatives of “la Caixa” Welfare Projects. Overcoming poverty in Spain, promoting jobs among groups at risk of exclusion, an active and healthy life for the elderly and combating infant mortality in developing countries are just some of the objectives involved in this collaboration.     More information in the PDF press release
