The Cinémathèque française, Cristina García Rodero and Flemish painting are the stars of the coming season at CaixaForum Girona

la Caixa" Foundation outlines the CaixaForum Girona programme for the 2017-2018 season, which is full of activities and events designed for every audience.

The 44 exhibitions at the eight CaixaForum centres received more than 2.3 million visitors in the 2016-2017 season. CaixaForum Girona had over 163,000 visitors last year and hosted over 500 activities.

The coming season will launch with a new project that has grown out of the collaboration between ”la Caixa” Foundation and the Cinémathèque française: Film and Emotions. A Trip to Childhood. This immersive exhibition explores the essential role of childhood in the creation of stories and characters in film, and it examines the influence that these movies have had on the development of the child audience.

Documentary photography will feature prominently in the new season with a show of the recent work of the celebrated photographer Cristina García Rodero, who travelled as the guest of ”la Caixa” Foundation to India in order to document the role of women in rural communities in Anantapur.

Painting will also take centre stage this season in Flemish and Dutch Painting in the Museums in Geneva, an exhibition organised by ”la Caixa” Foundation in collaboration with the Geneva Museum of Art and History. This show is intended to raise awareness of Flemish painting and to explain the emergence of genre painting, depictions of scenes from everyday life, against the socioeconomic backdrop of the 16th and 17th centuries.

Once again, CaixaForum Girona will be mounting a large number of activities suitable for everyone, making it an unparalleled space where culture and citizens can come together.
