Description
He is a senior researcher at the National Scientific and Technical Research Council (CONICET) and professor of Immunology at the School of Exact and Natural Sciences of the University of Buenos Aires. He is also a member of several scientific academies, including the United States National Academy of Sciences (NAS) and the European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO).
He is also the co-founder and chief scientific officer of Galtec, a biotechnology company whose aim is to translate treatments derived from galectin-based discoveries into clinical practice, within the framework of immunotherapeutic strategies against cancer and autoimmune diseases.
In addition, he leads a research group at the ”la Caixa” Foundation’s CaixaResearch Institute, whose objective is to generate new knowledge focused on the immunology of neoplastic, autoimmune and infectious diseases.
His work has paved the way for new therapeutic possibilities in cancer and autoimmune diseases, for which he has been recognised with several awards. Notable among them are the TWAS Prize in Medical Sciences (Italy), the Karl Meyer Lectureship Award from the Society of Glycobiology (USA), the Hakomori Prize from the International Glycoconjugate Organisation (Canada), and the Konex Brilliant Award for the most outstanding scientist of the decade 2014–2024 (Argentina).
Rabinovich has published more than 300 articles, many of them in high-impact scientific journals such as Cell, Nature, and Nature Immunology, and has delivered over 400 lectures.
