The President of the Portuguese Republic awards Isidro Fainé the Grand Cross of the Order of Infante D. Henrique

Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, President of the Portuguese Republic, has today awarded the Grand Cross of the Order of Infante D. Henrique to Isidro Fainé, Chairman of ”la Caixa” Banking Foundation, at the Belem Palace in Lisbon. The event was also attended by Artur Santos Silva, patron of ”la Caixa” Foundation and honorary President of BPI.

Isidro Fainé receives this award in recognition of his personal commitment over decades to promoting synergies between Portugal and Spain in the banking, industrial and social fields.

During the ceremony, the Chairman of ”la Caixa” Foundation expressed his gratitude to the President of the Republic: “It is a great honor for me to receive a distinction of this importance, with so much historical weight and that such illustrious personalities have been awarded.” Isidro Fainé has emphasized the commitment of the Foundation to the country: “You can count on my personal commitment, and that of the institution I represent, to jointly contribute to the development of our countries, especially Portugal, as far as we can".

“la Caixa” Foundation has a planned budget of 50 million euros to invest in Portugal in 2023 to develop social, educational, cultural and medical research programs that address the country's main priorities.
