On April 26 and 27, CaixaForum Madrid will host the 2nd Global Forum on Childhood Pneumonia, an event which will be attended by more than 300 experts, high-ranking government officials and representatives from international institutions and organisations.

The COVID-19 pandemic has fuelled the largest continued backslide in childhood vaccination in almost three decades. Moreover, pneumonia continues to be the single largest infectious cause of death in children worldwide, causing some 700,000 deaths per year. Three out of four deaths are of infants under one year of age. On average, more than 2,000 children die from pneumonia every day.

”la Caixa” Foundation, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, UNICEF, ISGlobal, USAID, Gavi, Every Breath Counts, Save the Children, Unitaid, PATH, the Child Health Task Force and CHAI are among those helping to reboot this Forum and address one of the biggest and most serious challenges facing children around the world.
