”la Caixa” renews its commitments to the international organisation Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, whose mission is to save children's lives and protect people's health by increasing equitable use of vaccines in lower-income countries.

More than 4 million children in Africa and Latin America have received the pentavalent and pneumococcal vaccines thanks to donations to the Child Vaccination programme promoted by the ”la Caixa” Banking Foundation and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation within the framework of Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, and in cooperation with ISGlobal.

Since ”la Caixa” Banking Foundation became partner of this programme in 2008, the organisation has raised a total of 23 million euros from donations by companies, individuals, company employees and micro-donations by ordinary citizens.

The Alliance implements a pioneering formula to promote corporate social responsibility in Spain: ”la Caixa” Banking Foundation and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation multiply by 4 each donation received, thus quadrupling efforts to combat infant mortality.
