A highly interactive tour introduces us to the mathematics that governs musical patterns as we discover elements such as the sound of nature or the music of matter.

In music – the quintessential emotive art – if we let ourselves be guided by the rational, we encounter mathematics, the mother of all sciences. Mathematics is present in all aspects of music, from the physics of sound to the construction of instruments, from rhythmic patterns to tonal harmony, and in all its styles.

A close relationship that we will understand better thanks to this exhibition, which constitutes an initiatory journey through music via mathematics. The display is organised into seven areas, like the notes of the diatonic scale, notes which, coloured by the music of Aleksandr Scriabin and his Prometheus: The Poem of Fire, will open the doors of silence – the 0 – to reach the music of the cosmos – the ∞ –, passing through the minimum sound audible to humans, the monochord, the first opera or zoomusicology.

The exhibition has an eminently interactive nature to help visitors understand the links between the two disciplines while they visualise the waves generated by a vibrating a string, imitate the timbre of different instruments or play with various timbres, notes and rhythms to generate a harmonious sound.
