An exhibition in which interaction is key to understanding the technology, engineering and maths that lie behind Pixar’s legendary films.
Pixar Animation Studios were the pioneers in creating computer-animated film. Following more than 20 years’ experience, they are now consolidated as genuine benchmarks in the sector. This exhibition is oriented towards showing a new side of their production process, highlighting the science behind the films, an element as essential as the creativity that characterises them but which, however, often remains unknown.
State-of-the-art technology, engineering, art and mathematics are woven together to build fantasy worlds that could not seem more credible and realistic. Every new Pixar film represents a production challenge, as can be seen in the exhibition, which passes through the entire production pipeline of these films, organised into eight sections.
Visitors can feel they are part of the Pixar factory by interacting with all the exhibition’s modules, understanding in a didactic and participatory manner how the films are made. Their journey starts with conception of the story and ends with its rendering, passing through the modelling section, the rigging, where the virtual bones, muscles and joints are developed, the surfaces and set design stage, animation, which brings the story to life, the simulation step, which provides automated movements, and lighting, where a greater emotional impact is generated.
